We took poor Scarlet's body back to Petco as we'd only had her 4 days. The straws they had left were ENTIRELY too big for me, so I negotiated that I look at the LESSER expensive crabs and maybe get a refund?
So I was looking though the tank and was getting more and more discouraged. I found a dark burgundy PP that was pretty inquisitive, but when I put him in my hand he grabbed ahold of my finger and wouldn't let go...to the point he drew blood! OWWIE! As SOON as I got him free, I set him down and he just started after me again waving his BP! I was like, NO WAY! This one will be a tank bully!
Sifting through more, I saw a little smiley face shell. It was a PP *sigh*, but when I saw the shell, my heart melted. Poor little thing! It was all cracked and had a hole in it. The crabbie inside was really shy and I almost put it back, but there was something that tugged at me that said "TAKE IT HOME" So I did = that is AFTER I put hand sanitizer and a band-aid on my finger that was dripping blood. Of course all I had in my purse was a BLUE'S CLUES band-aid. *blush*
Here's Guinevere taking her triple salt bath - just look at her shell...

Once she popped out of her shell, I saw she was missing a walking leg, her tips were well worn, she was in DESPERATE need of a molt but she has a gel limb...*crosses fingers* so I'm hoping she molts and regrows her leg.

Because of the condition of her shell, I didn't feel comfortable putting her in the main tank. Someone like Titan or even Queen Cocoa could crack it all the way off and expose her. So into ISO she went...where she IMMEDIATELY started shell shopping...

Once she was out of that horrid shell, I took it out. Just LOOK at it!!!!

While watching Gwen, I looked over into the main 'tat and saw this...

That was our girl Freckles. :D
Well, we'll see how Gwen does. I really didn't want another PP, but I think you'll all agree with me (Especially YOU, Kathy) that I NEEDED to bring this one home. Don't you think???

Today we moved her to the main tat where she greeted some of her tank mates. Right now, she's buried down under the salt water dish but has left me a window. She seems to get annoyed when I shine the flashlight at her! LOL

hehe, I have a smiley pp too! Mine is a lot smaller, and his name is Walmart :D he is one of my more active crabs, and he thinks he's king of the tank! mine's shell was a little beat up when I got him, too, but he has a lot of personality! He's also my digger in the tank, hehe. I'm glad to hear yours is healthy and active ^^

Hey just wondering how your crabbie is doing? Has she started growing a gel limb to fix that leg of hers.

She had a gel limb starting when I got her. She's dug down under the salt bath and I hear her scritching around down there, so I assume she's doing okay. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE it if she molted and regenerated that leg! She seemed to know that she was in a much better place and dug down right away.

Keeping my fingers crossed! Thanks so much for asking about her! I will keep you posted!!!

My salt bath is an extra deep dish with salt water in it so the straws can pretty much submerge.
