I would put it back on the beach. It is definatly marine. I thought it may be a PP before I saw the picture because they also live in Florida. There are over100 species of hermit crabs so I won't be able to help you. Definatly get him in water. Use Instant Ocean or something:confused: if you will keep him though.

yep definitely a marine crab, I have some blue legged marine hermit crabs in my saltwater tank. He'll need to be in saltwater, it would be best if you could return him to his natural habitat or find someone with a saltwater tank who will take him in.

That hermie looks so cool! Welcome to the site! That's a marine crab so you need to get a saltwater fish tank or just return him/her back to the beach. Make sure you don't use tablesalt for the saltwater!

This is an old post so maybe we should not be posting on it but that little thing is awesome. Onece I found one of those on the beach in washington but it had alge growing on it so I could not tell if it was alive or not.

Well, it's just kind of silly to be giving someone advice about a crab they found a couple of months ago, like "get it into water, quick!" :)

And it's also kind of annoying to some people to have old threads dragged up that aren't really relevant to anything at the current time?

Wow, this is old? Now I feel extra stupid because I told the person welcome. This is their only post; maybe they went to a marine crab forum.
