good idea, did you put the air stone in a watter bowl?
Yes, the air stone goes in the bottom of the water container. It doesn't matter if you use it in the salt water or the plain water. Naturally, depending on the size of the air stone, you may need to get a deeper water container.
ic. here is a dificulty i am having, larger tanks is not an option, we just cant do it. it th tanks we have there isnt room for the self bathing containers. so now what should we do?
Do you have a cover over the screen top? Plastic wrap will do and you can leave a small area open for air circulation.
You could get one of those in tank humidifiers.
there is a cover with a light hood with a small gap at the back for ventilation.
Here's a thought. Get one of those really small zip lock containers, then a small air stone and air pump. Sink it in a corner and allow that to replace one of your water dishes (salt or plain). My bubbler has salt water and at times the glass inside the tank does get a salt build up. It wipes off easily, but if you don't want to bother with that use it for the plain water.
hmm, ill have 2 look into that. i dont think my jumbo could fit into those containers but its worth a try. i used to have 4 of those but 2 have actaly been used as crab caskets =[.
question, one of our crabs is missing his smaller claw, can he eat? should i be worried?
Hermies do have a way to cope and adjust. Watch him to see if he is eating. You can help by making the pieces of food really small (dice). I noticed a few of my crabs will eat fresh foods when I make the pieces really tiny and break up the seeds (sunflower seeds especially).
i htink hes been eating, can they use their big claw to eat?
well last night the crab that was missing a claw appeared to be eating. her mouth parts were diping down into the mushy bananna. she is now very inactive , antenne arent moving little if at all. she move every now and then but i think shes almost gone. is there anythign i can do for her?
feed her honey. You can put a drop or two on the banana. She just might start eating more. What is her favorite food?
Don't give up. She may be preparing to molt. Just don't throw out any crabs that don't have a strong fishy smell.
If I think they are gone, I leave'em till they stink....guess it's just holding onto that bit of hope....I remember the "miracle crab" from past months that got thrown into the garbage only to be discovered to be alive!
