For awhile the conditions at my Petsmart have bothered me. I've been thinking about how to approach them to suggest some changes, but it seems now as if someone has saved me the trouble!

I just got back from vacation and went to go get some more salt water conditioner. I discovered that Petsmart has re-done their tanks! They previously had only a very thin layer of neon calci-sand, a rock structure thingy that was a sad attempt at a hidey, and food and water! No gauges or places of shelter for the crabs.

Now they have tons of plants hanging in the tank, bigger water bowls, hideys, more natural sand, gauges, and even a moss pit! I checked the gauges and the conditions were right! I still think they could use more sand, as it's not deep enough for some of their larger crabs and they still use some painted shells, but it's come a long way! Next time I'm there, maybe I'll let them know (although I was exclaiming over it to my mom right next to an employee). :p

Fabulous!! Sounds like someone finally made them see the light.

I hate it when pet stores treat they crabs, and any other animal in such a cruel manor.

Good people still do exist :D

I know, the other day I went to a small "mom and pop" store that carried hermit crabs in hopes of finding E's... I was extremely upset to find a wire cage with NO substrate, food, or water carrying the crabs! It was smaller than a 10 gallon and there had to have been at least twenty crabs crammed in there. What was more, was that they carried tons of fish, mice, rats, prarie dogs, rabbits, cats, dogs, and other animals like that. All of them had VERY cramped living conditions. It was just sad. :(:(:(

That's amazing! :D Wow, I don't even have a moss pit! I wonder who changed the conditions.

That would be cool. The milky way is huge and vast, though.
