I love your hermies! :D They are so adorable!!! It looks like Dig was having an awesome time on your keyboard and Treehugger was having fun eating and hugging trees! :D And from what I could see your crabitat is really cool! I hope they change out of the painted shells soon. :( I've had my hermie Sherbert for almost a year and she's still in the orange and green shell I've got her in. :( And we just got 8 new shells at Pet Goods! My parents are letting me shop at Vicki's today, so soon I'll be waiting too! I'm so excited!

Wow! They looks great! The one thing I might suggest is that you take out the pine log if it is made out of pine. The pine is toxic to crabs and it irratates them. If they have not been in it, that's why.

She was talking about the half-log. The half log is definitely pine. I used to have that too. And I don't trust pet stores anymore, I think like this: 'they have bad conditions for hermit crabs, so why would I trust them on anything else about hermit crabs?'

Ugh, you're right. Some of the stuff I got from the pet store was really expensive and it turns out that I couldn't even use it.:( I was thinking about if there was a way to make it safe. I'm not sure how you could do it... Hm..

Maybe cover it in aquarium sealant... Ok that might not even work and probably cost a lot of money. Maybe you could get a plastic tupper ware or something and make a house out of that. I know it's not going to be as fancy as a pine log but they would probably like it better.

No that wouldnt work either. If its pine the whole thing is toxic not just the bark. I had the same lil log before I found out about pine being toxic. I traded mine to a friend for a extra water dish. he uses the log for his lil frogs or lizards.

Thats a good idea too. You could trade it on craigslist or to a friend who has pets for something else.:)

I saw that log at where I bought Oscar. It completely safe since it was in the hermit crab aisle and the hermit crabs were all sleeping on it.
