My hermie died during molting...

    Why did my hermie die during molting????
    Do you have to ISO them whilst in the process of molting??

    Sorry to hear your hermie died. You don't have to ISO them during a molt, unless there is some danger like another crab that won't leave him alone, etc. I have never ISO'd mine and the next molt will be my fifth. Molting is a very hard and stressful on them. There are times they just might not be strong enough to make it through. Was he buried or was it a surface molt?

    yes, i agree msdiamond, molting is very stressfull on the crabs, i so far i have had 6 successfull molts and 3 unsuccessfull. i do have an iso. mainly for when i get newbies and iso them from the others incase they are sick. but i do not iso them during a molt. in the wild they molt in there colony and they also sometimes make it and don't make it. it realy depends on the crabs strength and health also. I haven't had any fights between any of them which is good.
