McKenny was nice enough to type this up so here it is all stickied!

:( Not suitable for hermit crabs :(

Spanish Moss can harbor bugs and is treated
with pesticides. It is not a true moss but an air plant
that absorbs calcium and moisture from the air.

Cypress is a conifer with wood/needles that are
    toxic to crabs when ingested.
Depending on the species of cypress,
some have toxic properties, among them arsenic.

Beaked Moss provides a Realistic Setting for Reptiles and Amphibians
Completely Natural (no dyes or chemicals)
But, it is harvested from coniferous rain forests of
Oregon which is toxic to hermit crabs.

:) Ok to use for hermies :)
    Hiawatha Moss
Sphagnum moss (NOT sphagnum PEAT moss)
    Naturals Floral Moss from Walmart
    Frog Moss

You should put in why sphagnum PEAT moss isn't safe - the decomposition of the moss into peat raises the acidity level to the point that it can dissolve exos, thus killing your crabs. It's great for preventing decomposition of human bodies (look it up - there's a whole slew of mummified human remains found in peat bogs in Scotland) but not so good at housing hermit crabs.

    Yuz welcome. :D

I didn't elaborate as to why the unsafe moss was unsafe because I just wanted it to be a brief "Do's and Don't".
The search on here is fairly easy to use, so if someone really wanted to know why, they could type it in and do that, or ask...

Your info on Sphagnum PEAT is helpful emmac350, as well as the Spanish moss. (shiver-shiver) I don't think I'll be going near either one of them Any Time Soon! :D
