Well, I'm going to try and make my own kibbles for my crabbies and I'm not sure what I need. I know I need a source of carotene, grain, protien, omegas, calcium, and iodine. Am I missing anything? If so please let me know. I want them to have the best diet possible. I'm not looking for specific foods, but the different types of nutrients and things that would need to be in the foods. Thanks for your help!

There are several sites that offer organic food that has been previously tested on crabs. I believe they tell you all the ingredients.

However, somewhere I read that people are not as willing to give out their recipes, but I could be absolutely wrong.

Here are two sites that offer homemade, organic foods:

    thecrabbagepatch.com
    http://www.elsshells.com - Welcome

There are two others, but I'm having a problem with posting their sites. So their names are:

    hermit crab addiction
    the happy hermit (narnar)

Also, there are other crab sites that have info on food:

The Crab Street Journal : Hermit Crab Magazine ยป The Crab Street Journal - a magazine about land hermit crabs
    www.hermitcrabassociation.com

These sites should be helpful to you and others that want to prepare food for their crabs.

I think it is important to have something wild in there too, something leafy and non-human grade. But it looks like you know your stuff! I'm just getting to know everyone around here, but it seems like you ALL have it together nutritionally!
