I always thought hermit crabs were ok with the forest bedding but I guess they are not. So I changed the bedding to gravel. But I am going to add sand to it too.

Crabbybeach, I really hate to tell you this, but gravel is even worse! They still can't bury in it and the gravel can irritate their delicate stomach and cut them open.

It's always something. My hermit crabs NEVER EVER bury themselfs in the sand or gravel. Even when I had the sand. They didn't bury in the sand. I know your just trying to help but Have you noticed sand I is small rocks, and they could cut themselfs on many things you just got to be careful. You now probably think I don't know crab about anything.

Do you have gauges? Whats the readings? Im wondering why they dont bury. I'm pretty sure I have a good idea, just curious as to what you deem safe for crabs since we obviously don't know.

They don't bury if they don't have deep enough sand. 3-4in would be good.
