And then give them 'Monster' or 'Red Bull' to drink lol. But someone on Yahoo Answers did that. He said that his hermit crab kept speeding all over the place then stopping. I felt so sorry for that hermit crab:eek:

I got my crabs long ago, and knew nothing about mites and bugs. I didn't see anything out of the ordinary, but how can you do spot checks for bugs once in a while? Is there something we can look for? If we want to just do like weely or bi-monthly checks to make sure everything is alright in the bug category?

You were lucky- count your blessings- Im pretty sure you would know if you had an outbreak so. Bathing just to check when unnecessary is not recommended - you usually only get them when new or if you keep in a room with birds and other reptiles.

Is the bath going to stress them out? I am getting crabs tommorow, and so far i am only worried about the bath. Is it fine for me to dunk them in water? and if so, for how long?

Great thread! I'm sure new hermit crab owners will find it very informative! Good idea, and good job!

It might be good if you put the ranges (temp and humidity) (or did I not see them? I thought I read it pretty well) so newcomers can know at a glance whether their tanks were at the correct levels.

I was wondering and thought you'd know-- How many large hermit crabs can I have in a 90 gallon tank? Haha, just planning ahead ;)
