Wouldn't they be harder to carry?
I guess, but hermit crabs are super light, so it wouldn't make much difference to the birds.
My big one
is very heavy... :yes2:
He is? None of mine are, I bet its because of their shells.
The Hermies most likely have access to a beach of some sort, and Seagulls are there too. I would imagine that the bigger ones make a larger target for the birds and other predators as they head back for shelter.
Unless they're a Coconut Crab, the Hermies wouldn't be difficult to carry. :flower:
Yeah, if I was a seagull, I would be DEAD SCARED of a coconut crab!
24 now! god I have to stop.. lol
Yeah, I agree with Donny- hermit crabs only usually reach weights of around 200g so there isn't really much weight difference at all between a tiny hermit crab after its' first ever moult or a jumbo crab with a shell the size of a tennis ball.
Maybe not the weight of the jumbo crab itself, but the weight of the shell makes a significant difference.
Also, I think you would have gotten more participation in this survey if it wasn't in the 'social groups' section - I would've seen and participated if it was in the Chatter Box though. I don't go in here much - too many smileys, too little stuff that I want to see. I didn't participate in your survey, and I have 8 crabs, so there is a whole other group that didn't get any attention.
Actually, Emma, this isn't for smily's and stuff, otherwise I wouldn't post so much. The smily social group is though.
My point, though, is that not everyone goes into the social groups thread, so maybe putting it into one of the main forums would've been a better idea. After all, this is my second time in the social groups, and I doubt whether I'll come back. Just not my cup of tea.
Yeah, I don't know why this is in the social groups either, maybe a mistake?
I just recently bought 3 named one crazy, the other kate (after a friend), and the last one big crabby!
new to being a crab mommie but ive got 2 big boy and superman
When I had both tanks running, I topped out at 32. I now have 7.
I have seen so many things about how big is your crab? I don't know what mine fall into. I have big boy crammed into a smaller shell, a huge one that came up from molting last month that I don't remember him being that beefy when he went down. What do you go by? The shell size/ how big the crab/ his actual weight?
