Big Hi to all from here in Australia :hermez2: At the moment I dont have any crabbies. I'm in the process of setting up my crabitat (a 64 gallon). Looking forward to sharing stories with you all. :straw:
if you can find play sand at a Lowes or Farm King, and any thing that isn't metal for water dishes{ I use a 2 sides plastic cat food dish that is sand colored} & food dishes{ I uses a flat glass candle holder}, fake plants from a dollar tree, aquarium decorations, hobby lobby has cholla wood, fish netting, clay pots, jungle vines, large rocks piles up in a corner, go to crabpatch.com and this site for other things you have a perfect set up for crabs.. welcome to the crab family! * make sure you wash everything that is washable in the salted waters & I boiled my rocks to, they love climbing on them. I have rocks from Platte City, Kansas, Rhode Island, Burlington, Ia. & Macomb, Il. make it your own creation and post a picture with your crab buddy's enjoying their new digs & please remember ya gots to give 'em time to destress, like a few weeks or so before handling them a lot or they might die on ya. sad but true :crybaby2: check the food list on here to, they can eat a lot of the stuff we do & save on the $$ commercial food that might have the bad stuff in it that makes them sick :sad4:
So true. Ive got most of those items, have washed and boiled a few of them (still have some more to do). It was hard to find suction cup soap dishes (most of the ones I found had metal hooks). My hubby was lucky enough to find so large corner ones (all plastic) the other day, so he got me three. I have a friend who has hermits (who I got the tank fom and a few other things). She has had them for years and has been very helpfull. :twirl: for the tips.
I can't get suction cups things to stick at all, I have tried everything from even wiping the glass down with vinegar and making sure it was rinsed well & still in a like minutes it would be off. grrrrrrrr!
yep tried velcro to, it was on in days, I want to try those magnaetic rock shelf things I think they have them at pet co or some place like that, kind of tired of the jungle vine. I want to redo the tank
The best that I have found and have been up for a long time are the 3M Adhesive Hooks. A little pricey, but believe me, if you follow the directions and be patient for the set up time, it's well worth it.
I think it depends on the size of the cup. Ive tried small ones and they just fall off. The cups on the dishes I have now a pretty large (around the same size as the top of a soft drink can) The have stayed but for 4 days now and no sign of moving. 3M hooks are great (got a few of them).
3M hooks all the way! The only other thing I had luck with is double sided tape. It didn't fall off but was easy to pull off so I would say 3M hooks are best.
I forgot...another thing that stays up fairly well are the Locking Suction Cups that you find in the Bath section of Walmart. They will loose suction sometimes though and you have to re-attach them. 3M...love 'em.
