what section do fiddler crabs go on? on aquabid.com, btw hows your last fiddler?
They'll be listed under "invertebrates" if they have any. There aren't always any available.
My last fidder seems to be hanging in there. I only see him every couple of days -- I have a large piece of holey limestone and he stays hidden in its crevices. And I still don't know if he's even eating anything I put in there. I guess I should give him a name since he stuck around this long!
i know but in fresh or saltwater?
well, I know a few "gamers" that would probably vote to name him Diablo!
Not that me and my manly hubby are D&D or computer geeks or anything...
Or if you're a Disney fan you could always go with Sabastian...my lil girl insists on calling forks "dinglehoppers"...at least she stopped brushing her hair with them at restaurants?!
Oops, sorry, that's freshwater invertebrates.
I came across this place which seems to have some fiddlers ... www.fish2u.com Here's a direct link to the fiddler crabs: http://www.fish2u.com/regc.html
Those are cool, but I'm really drooling over this crayfish: http://www.fish2u.com/sccb.html
LOL ... I kinda like Diablo. I may go with that!
My husband is a big role-playing game geek -- not so much D&D as others, though. Usually he's not as big on the video games, but he has been playing a lot of World of Warcraft lately, and has even gotten me to make a character and play with him some.
I've played early warcraft...I love the little noises that the orcs? make...
My hubby (Brendan) is more AD&D than D&D, he also like White Wolf. He's actually made his own system for gaming...and he's already got my son into it
They "quest" on Sundays sometimes...Alex is the warrier with a plastic or wooden sword, his pal Devin is the Archer...long staff for shooting his fire or ice arrows, and Brendan...is the biggest kid so he gets to be the wizard..with blue, red, and yellow tennis balls to represent his ice, fire, and lightning spells...and don't forget his 6ft tall wizard's staff...a must have of course!! Last time Alex got to land the killing blow to the Mulberry Tree...Super Sword Slash...I think it was called...
At least they're bonding right?!
btw, can u just list all the websites you know that i could get fresh water inverts please?
I'm sure there are more places than I know about, but ...
http://www.liveaquaria.com (shrimp, crayfish, crabs, snails) Not sure where they are located
http://www.franksaquarium.com (shrimp, crayfish, crabs) New York
http://www.fish2u.com (shrimp, crayfish, crabs, snails -- listed under "Catfish, Sharks and other Scavengers") Florida
http://www.bluecrayfish.com (crayfish) Crayfish Bob is the original breeder of blue Orconectes immunis crayfish, and sells those plus blue Procambarus alleni crays. Both my immunis came direct from him. New York
http://www.crayfishshop.com (crayfish, shrimp, snails) Alabama
http://www.alink.com/personal/appy/ (Eternal Knot Crayfish Farm -- crayfish only) This guy studies crayfish, and he has some really interesting stuff! I'm not sure he keeps his site up-to-date all the time, but he always has tons of crayfish. Ohio
http://blueludo.com (crayfish) I think this is the guy who sells a lot on Aquabid under the username pioneer. Can't remember his location
http://aqua-terra-vita.com (crayfish) Well, they have a pricelist, anyhow. Weird mix of stock. Not sure where they're located.
http://rainbowsnails.com (snails) Texas
... and of course http://aquabid.com and http://ebay.com. I search for "live snails" or "live crayfish" to find what they have. I bought some interesting (to me, anyhow) snails on ebay just last week.
I have snails and crayfish and personally I find them both to be better pets than my fiddler crab, which I rarely see. There are some crayfish that are small enough to keep in a 5 gallon tank, and all but a very few species could live happily in a 20 gallon tank. Most do just fine at room temperature, so you don't even need a heater for them like you would for many fish. And depending on where you live, you might be able to go out and catch your own pet crayfish. Probably not a blue one, though!
yeah theres a lake by my house that has a ton at night but its disgusting water soooooo... yeah dont want a dirty cray in my fish tank, i have no idea how to order from alink.com, and you think i could set up crayfish setup like fiddler crabs(half land half water)? i just love that setup, well if i cant i guess id order some tadpoles from blueludo.com to lol...omg! i wish decorator crabs were freshies lol
You could put a crayfish in a semi-aquatic setup, but what I have heard from people who tried it is that they crays choose to stay in the water all the time so it's a waste to only have the tank filled up halfway. So if that's what you want, fiddler crabs are a better fit. Or some sort of freshwater crab -- the Petsmart near me has red-clawed crabs, which are freshwater.
Yeah, the marine crabs are the coolest! I don't think I'll ever have the courage (or spare cash) to take on a saltwater tank. though.
lucky i wish my lps would sell more crabs then just fids i wish there was a web that sold archer fish lol
