    Yes, you can house an adopted crab with another adopted crab or one of your own. I would, however, suggest isolating the new crab for period of at least 4 weeks, possibly longer. The new guy could carry a pathogen that may be transmitted to your already existing colony (or crab).

    I have an established colony of crabs-the newest of which have been with me 8 months. If for some reason I were to adopt, they would be housed separately for at least 6 months to protect my tank full of established crabs.
