(Quick review: one of my crabs, Hermin,
buried himself and was un-dug by his
cagemate, Shelle. I thought he was dead.
he hung out of his shell and I was pretty curtain.)

Guys! great news! my friend told me that crabs usually hang out of their shells when they molt, and further more, he doesn't smell like rotten fish!
:) :) :) I think he may survive, which means Shelle might have her friend back! What a relief! :D

Yay! :D Put him in an iso tank with food and water and stuff and put a cocohut over him or just cover the tank. Hermit crabs need it to be dark when they molt. Try not to peek at Hermin (I know it's really hard).
    Good luck! :)

If you balace their diet a bit that is less likely, look for "Krill" in the fish food isle of your local pet store, that should help.

I put a coconut on him, but I didn't think he needed food in there!
He's currently in the same cage as Shelle but like I said, he's got a coconut so she can't bother him.

Crabs themselves (once finished molting) don't hang out of their shells. They are as deep as they can get in their shells, but their exos look like they're hanging out of the shell.

Can he get air with a coconut over him? Is there a door in it or some way for air movement? If not, it'll be hard to check on him (if he is molting/was molting) without really scaring him and when he's ready for food and water, how will you know? Surface molters harden much faster and need food much earlier than buried molters.

I put one of those epty coconut shells on him,
in such a way that he can't get out, and that nothing can get in.
I do pick up the coco to see how he's doing, but he has no sign of movement altogether. Like, K.O.

If he dies, you'll smell it when you uncover him - the coconut will keep the smell in one place then it will come out and attack you - it's fairly pungent.

Man, why would you put a whole coconut half over him? I would've at least cut a crab sized hole so he can get in and out. Also if you put some freeze dried shrimp or some meat in the tank, the other crab will be less likely to eat him because the other crab gets protiens and not relying on another crab for protein

Also, what happened when Shelle dug him up? Did she just dig his hiding spot up or did she drag him out?

    She didn't drag him,
she just un-burried him from the sand.
