I bought some moss today (all natural) I put a small amount in a little dish and let it soak in warm salt water, just in case there was anything in it. [IMG] When I put in in with my little guys there were 4 of them on it munching thier little hearts out within 5 min.

I was trying to make the coconut hidey hut that I made look less obvious in the crabitat, so I used aquarium sealant and stuck some moss all around the opening and on top of the coconut. Once it had cured and I put it in, they tore the moss all off~so much for that trick. Anyway, I think they liked it [IMG]

I got the moss at Petco. I can't remember the brand as I threw the bag out and put it in a ziplock bag. But I made sure it had nothing in it...it said "all natural" . I've also heard of stuffing a big shell, that's what I did in the tank with the big guys to keep the mess down..Ha Ha Ha they drag it out and spread it around all night [IMG] I keep telling them they need to keep thier room clean [IMG]I swear I hear them laughing at me [IMG] [IMG]

It is called Sphagnum Moss and the crabs do like to nibble on it and hide in it. I have had mine mixed in with the substrate for over 8 months and have not had any issues at all with mold rearing its ugly head.

(You may also find it sold as terrarium moss)

I bought some Zoo Med Fern Moss. I haven't added it to the tank yet- cause I wasn't 100% sure if it would be OK. Is this what you all are using??

Any reptile safe moss is OK for your crabs. Mine eat it all the time. And hide in it...

I have ESU reptile all natural terrarium moss in my crabitat.

I did see a Zoo-Med Forest Furniture Decorator Pack containing the following mosses:
    Emerald Lichen Log
    Fern Moss
    Reindeer Lichen
    Gray Lichen Log
    Spanish Moss
    Frog Moss
    Forest Bark
    Deerfoot Lichen
    Shag Moss
    Emerald Lichen

It was a package of approx. 8 oz. of the various mosses and it sold for $14.99. Are all of these mosses safe for the hermies?
At another pet store, they sold these same mosses seperately, but no terraium moss.
