A friend of mine took a great picture that shows the gonopores on a female crab.

Now you can see them and find out if your crabs are females or males.

Please, lets not post so many multiple posts one right after another. I don't want to sound mean but it is a little annoying to see four or five posts one right after another that could all be incorperated into one single post. If you forget to add something just click on the edit button of your previous post and add it. ;D It works great for me and usually I manage to catch my mistakes in time without anyone knowing it. Back to the questions...We don't mind if you get info from here, just check with Vicki first just to be on the safe side. There's another user on here that started a longish thread on what to incorperate in her website. The starters name is Keri's Hermies. Hope that helps!

:confused:I looked at that picture. then checked to see if Ocean had gonopores, and it looked like she did, but I'm not sure. They were really tiny so it was hard to tell. The, I looked at Honey. I don't know if Honey does or not. The things on her legs looked like gonopores, but they were a little bigger and darker in color. Also, they were more underneath the back of her legs than Ocean's and the pictures. Sherbet had the same thing. Crusty wouldn't let me check, since he's new. So, do you think Ocean, Honey, and Sherbet are boys or girls? Thank you for the picture!:)

How do you guys suggest I check for gonopores? I really want the easiest and most stress free way possible. Could I place them in a glass container and peer up from below?

look hold the crab out and make him think he is going to have your hand to grasp--taunt him and it make take a minute but then slowly turn him over and look good at the LAST pair of walking legs
stress smess- just do it!!!!!! :D
I cant own a crab unless I know the sex-it drives me nuts

Yes crabs can die from stress. However sexing a crab in the suggested way Hermez mentioned won't stress them to the point of death.

I think I'll only sex my new ones, because in my little brain I have eight males and one female. I don't want to ruin my naming scheme. I've never sexed any of them.
But I'll sex two new straws I'm buying Friday, thanks Hermez!

That response was very ignorant- might I ask you not to be so rude. I am not a mod here because I just tell people wrong info.................

People over emphasize what crabs can/cannot handle they are very hardy.

    btw Your welcome NotaMallard :)

I found out that Ocean, Sherbert, and Lou-Lou are girls and Crusty and Sky (R.I.P Sky) are boys! Now Crusty is my only boy! I did what HERMEZ said. It wasn't that hard because my crabs are really friendly. :) Awesome thread!
