Sorry if this offends some people out there with goldfish, but the fish was already dead i did not kill it.
Ok so i will try and make a long story short. Due to hard times and hubby being layed off from his job. I have been working part-time at my local pet store. Boy talk about a fun job. I am the one behind the scene that keeps all the animals all clean and fed. I know the poop cleaning isnt the nicest job, but when you get to luv up 15 different kitties all at the same time makes up for all the bad stuff. Or when you get 6 puppies out at once when the store is closed and just run around with all of them in tow lol.or when you see that look on a little kids face when they say mum CAN I PWEESE HAVE A KITTY AND MUM SAYS YES they look like they are about to burst lol. So any way back to the fishy.
Someone brougt in a HUGE goldfish that they didnt want anymore, we put it in the pond we have but it didnt like it and ended up dieing so my boss kept it for the hermies and froze it for me. I thought i would take some picture to share with you all. ENJOY the only other thing to say if the hermies really enjoyed the fish lol.

First I have to say that I do have goldfish and they are my babies just like my crabs are my babies and yes it is gross to see. BUT I also have tropical fish, including tons of guppies and while I don't like when they die, I'm not as attached to them as my goldfish and crabs since every month they are popping out more fry and after a few years of watching the other fish hunt down the babies I can't save (I just don't have the time and money to have enough tanks to keep all the babies born every month) I have gotten a little immune to them dying. So as a treat I also feed my crabs the dead guppies. Of course guppies are a lot smaller then a giant goldfish so my guys devour it as soon as they know it's in the tank. It's not any different then them eating a dead fish that has washed ashore in their natural habitat.

I'd be willing to try this. I have some tropical fish and if one happens to kick the bucket I just might put it in the tank. Thanks for the idea!

Thats a great idea! Feed my dead fish to the hermit crabs. I also have apple snails also called mistery snails that live about 1 1/2 years. When they die can I feed them to the hermies? I also have a ton of tiny snails that I just can't kill off I dont know what their called but when I clear some out of the tank can I feed them to the hermies too?

    Hi guys,
Just a quick note. Gold fish are given large amounts of Copper in their food and I know copper is something we need to not give to our little guys. I am new to the group and just want to help. Have a great day! :straw:

The flakes I feed my fish don't have copper listed. Maybe it's just commercialized flakes from pet stores?

Trixie I don't see why you couldn't feed the snails to them. Every once in awhile I see one of the bad snails out and about and they get taken out and tossed to the chickens LOL
