Hey kathy my hermies wont eat carrots either so i grind them once they are dry (they smell like tomatoe paste once grinded) then sprinkle them over worm castings amd it always gets eaten now.

I just did some baby shrimp like that Kathy. One tray had spirulina sprinkled on the shrimp, another had astaxanthin powder, honey, then honey and coconut.

Well, as expected, the honey carrots were the hit, though they did nibble at a few of the salted ones, too.

I'm posting this for Chrispy since she's having issues.

anyone interested in starting a Dehydrator Recipe thread complete with ingredients and temps and times of the stuff they make that are hits in their tanks?

i'd like to get a dehydrator as well and it would be fun to share recipes that do well in the tanks.

...IF that's what it really is. I didn't pay it much mind but I think it is. lol

I'm on the southwest side of DC, Chrispy, in Manassas. :) We've gone over to MD, several times, for things.

I dried some apple slices yesterday. The darn things didn't even turn brown.....and I didn't pre-treat either! Amazing, cuz apples ALWAYS turn brown for me.

By the way........the crabbies seem to love the dehydrated apples. Surprisingly, they aren't fond of fresh apple slices, though.

very interesting that the apple didn't turn brown. i've also found that my crabs don't like fresh apples nearly as much as when i cut it up when it was fresh, freeze it and then thaw it in the microwave for about 15 seconds. they really enjoy that much better.

Today, I wrapped hibiscus petals around mango slices. Came out better than I though it would. The flowers must have taken on the moisture of the mango, and dried at the same time.
