:DWoohoo! Deadly came up this morning WITH 4 LEGS! He grew one back! I went through my first molt and I didn't have to do anything! The problem is, he is a very bright shade of pink. I think it might be because he had less exo to eat because of his lost leg? I added peanut butter and eggshells to the food dish, will that cover it? And while he is pink, does he have a chance of other hermits eating him? Thanks.:D

You may want to ISO him if he is still pink. He may have come up a little early.

Only problem is, Storm's using the ISO. But Storm's getting out tomorrow, so maybe they can switch off or something.

Ok. That sounds good. You can put him in a plastic bow or something inside the main tank. Give him some cuttle bone too.

Congrats on your first molt!!! It's awesome that Deadly grew his leg back! I was so excited when Darcy came up from his molt (which was my first). My two other guys haven't molted yet.

I heard that they get little stubs on their legs and then next molt it gets longer and longer. That's interesting how he grew them leg by leg. Is he walking better?

Yes he is walking better. :) But he is burried in the moss pit again, halfway down. He's still pink. I heard somewhere that it isn't uncommon for C. Clypeatus hermit crabs to still be pink after a molt after he comes up, so could he be jsut resting in the moss pit? Also, should I ISO him? I dipped him in the water to get his molt smell off, does he still have a chance of being eaten?

Congrats on the molting! My crabs just started to dig around in my tank, I'm sure I will get freaked out once I noticed them go down to molt whenever that happens. Hope Deadly comes out nice and lively, (haha a lil shot at a joke I know not funny).

You might want to wash out the dirt and decorations in the tank before putting him in. you don't want Storms mites germs etc that might be living on im to spread. Also give Storm a bath before you put him in the main tank.

Kk I gave everyone a bath, put them in the main tank. But the problem is, Deadly's buried again! If I lift up the moss a little I can see him, I think he's resting from the molt. Should I take him out and ISO him or will that stress him? I can't take the moss pit out; Buster is buried in there too.

If he is buried in the moss pit you may just want to leave him. If he comes out of his moss pit tonight and is very soft etc. Put him in the ISO.

I usually don't if they are not soft or pinkish. Mine usually stay down long enough that they are fine when they come up.

Yes, that might have been the case, remember he had one less leg of exo to eat cause of his lost leg, so maybe that's why.

I only had surface molts so far, so none of them have been normal. Ocean and Sherb were pretty pink after they molted, but Sherb went back to her normal color afterwards.

You should feed him some shrimp wit hexoskelton so he can harden his own exo.

Anyway, everyone's buried now. My second, third, fourth, and fifth molt might be coming. It's getting kind of boring.:(
