One of my crabs was chirping...sounded like a low hen cluck....when he was engaged in a heated shell battle.

I thought I heard a chirp the other night but I don't know - what does it sound like?

When I brought my 2 nameless home they were chirping for 5 minutes straight. I think it was all the stress though.

Can someone fix the typo from DOSE to DOES? I keep scrolling down and see this thread and it bothers me so much. I'm a grammar freak, forgive me.

Now, to be on topic... I can't tell if their shell is just rubbing against the glass or they're bumping into shells or they're chirping (the list goes on). I do hear clicking sounds though, but I can just never tell them apart. I read that only some species chirp though

I understand Yadokari. Drives me absolutely nuts. To me it's like the old screeching on a blackboard or whatever it's called. To make it even a little harder for me, I think, is that I am the unofficial editor/proofreader on two other sites.

The occasional typo is okay-we all do it too. But it's when the spelling is so bad I truly can't understand the question or comment. So those I have to skip over instead of maybe being able to give a good response.

    I'm done.

I try to do my best to correct spelling erros in my posts when I catch them. I always do my best because that's just the way I am. I read the posts and accept them errors and all. As a teacher, I'm used to figuring out invented spelling. Some of the posters are kids and they will make simple spelling mistakes.

I notice that is was buster chirping at blue. buster was in the water dish and blue was one the other side of the dish

Re: does your hermit crab chirp to you!!!

I bought a new PP yesterday and I was examining her to see how big of a shell I would need to give her and she chirped at me. I think she was scared and wanted to be left alone. I had to laugh.:) She looked so cute.

Mine sounded like a very low hen cluck....I am sure of what it was though because of the shell battle in progress....
