    Hermit crabs in captivity cannot breed. They need to release their eggs into the ocean, which they cannot do in our tanks.

    My crab has a ball of black shiny stuff inside her shell could it be eggs? she moves it around inside her shell..

    I've actually heard of people's crabs having eggs, but none of them survived. There aren't too many stories about it.
