What about a strawberry? (I think it's funny that there are crabs named after berries!)

Those are awesome pics! I have to say I am envious that yours come out on demand. I have to just happen by the tank when one decides to stroll around. I am constantly planning new things for the tank so I can get it where I'm happy with it.
How do you get your pics to post here? I have been :BangHead: trying to figure it out and all I can do is post the link to the pic on photobucket. :crybaby2:

Oh yeah, what kind of substrate is that and how often do you change it?

:thanks:

Go to your album page and place your mouse cursor over an image. 3 links should appear. Copy then one starting with and past it in your post.

Goodluck with your tank :)

Okay - makes sense. I was confused, because I thought I saw glass in front, but then to see what appeared to be slats in the background...yeah.

Re: Update: Jan 24

I have read that they will attack the food if you feed them once a day at dinner time or when they begin to stir then take it out after a few hours then wait till the next day at dinner time always removing it after a few hours. But I leave the food in there all the time so they aren't to excited about dinner time. They know that they can eat anytime they want.

Re: Update: Jan 24

That's an interesting theory, trixie, but I'd rather have the food always available like you. I've watched several of my crabs eat during the day, so I wouldn't want to take away the food when they want/need it. As I write this, Slightly's actually in the food bowl, eating the last of last night's dinner.

Re: Update: Jan 24

Mine are all snoozin. I kind of miss not having more crabs. If I got more maybe I would have a better chance of seeing one during the day.
Also... I waste alot of food. I put so much in the bowl because I always want to have enough of each food group for the 6. Like last noght I fed them
1. King crab legs (meat was taken out and put in their bowl and a piece of shell put in the tank.
2. carrots
3. brocolli
4. unsalted peanuts
5. mango
6.papya
7.banana
8.red roses
9. millet seeds
Sprinkled with some power powder.
Maybe their gretting fat and lazy lol. That why I don't see them during the day lol.

Re: Update: Jan 24

Its been a long crazy period of crabbing, despite having over 20 crabs crammed into a 15 gal tank i managed to keep all my crabs alive ( except for the pink rug that escaped a week after i bought it , it was actually a birthday present from myself to myself )

One of the most important things of keeping a colony of crabs afloat is food. Everyday there should be at least one type of food from each food group and DO NOT give your crabs the same type of food for two days in a row.

Today we have raw salmon, sprouts and alot of fruit

AGAIN he is first to the food dish ( sorry, pics taken at night )
