of my hermits have died in

    one week!!!

    I don't know what's wrong!!

    Any HELP?

    Meg

Do you know what species they are?
Three PP's and I'm not sure what the other one is.

Did you/Do you isolate new crabs?
This is horrible, but no. I'm not really sure on how to really do that.

    Tank Size:
    Thirty-gallon.

    Lid Type:
    No lid.

Placement of tank in your home:
In my bedroom, on a wall with no windows, away from the vent.

Substrate Used (moist or dry & depth):
    Four inches of dry subtrate.

    Type of Gauges: Strip/Analog/Digital
    Strips.

Did you test your humidity gauge for accuracy?
    No.

    Placement of Gauges:
    Side of the tank.

Temperature and Humidity levels in your tank: Degrees %
    76% humidity, 77 degrees.

Heating Source (if UTH how much of the tank does it cover and how much substrate is over it):
Heating bulb clamped to top of tank.

Lighting Source (type bulbs & wattage):

Do you have at least one area for each crab to hide?
    Yes.

Is there any metal in your tank?
    Nope.

What types of climbing things/toys do you have in your tank?
    Driftwood, rock caves and hideys.

What type of water do you use (dechlorinated tap/spring water)?
Dechlorinated water for the freshwater and salt water.

If you use dechlorinating drops-which kind?
Aquarium Solutions "Ultimate" Full-functioning water conditioner.

Do your provide fresh and salt water? If yes, what type of salt mix do you use?
Yes, but I'm not sure what mix I use. My boyfriends sister gave it to me. She uses it in her tank and her crabs are fine.

Do you provide dishes for water or just sponges?
    Sponges.

How many extra shells do you have for each crab?
    About five or six.

Did you boil the shells prior to putting them in the tank?
    Always.

Do you bathe your crabs? If yes, how often and what do you use to bathe them in?
I bathe them every once every month or so.

Do you only handle your crabs with clean hands?
    Yes.

How often do you handle them?
    Daily. I'm afraid they'll turn mean if I don't.

Have they been exposed to toxins such as chemical/cleaning fumes, perfume, spray deodorant, etc?
    Not to my knowledge.

Do you allow your crabs to exercise outside the tank?
    Yep.

What types of foods do you feed?
ZooMeds "Hermit Crab Fruit Salad," T-Rex "Crab Island Fruit & Flower Crab Food," and Florida Marine Research Hermit Crab Food.

What do you use as a calcium supplement?
    Calcisand.

We don't recommend pet store bought food ethier
And Don't recommend Calti-Sand due to the toxic dyes in the sand

You can buy foods from your grocery store, health food store etc. Fresh meats, fruits, fish and other seafood and veggies. Find some sand dollars or cuttlebone(bird section at pet stores) for calcium. You can also dry some of the fresh foods to save for a later date.

There are a number of sites where you can purchase organic foods. Most of these are run by people that are members of different hermie sites.

    I would recommend:

    The Happay Hermit
    El's Shells
    The Crabbage Patch

Yeah i agree with HERMEZ The Addiction Store is the best. Great prices and a huge range of food. I have been feeding my hermies vickis food and my hermies love it. when its dinner time they are waiting for there food dish to be put back in the tank to be destroyed.
