I'm finally feeling pleased with how my crabitat looks and the crabs seem to approve! I added a new climbing area this week and some fake plants that they love to climb on. I have to say that it is almost as tricky to get good crabitat shots as it is to get shots of the actual crabs. Lighting is especially tricky! Most of my crabs are in hiding in all of these shots but you can get a glimpse of Rosey in the shower caddy under the moss in one picture.

Yeah, I wish the shower caddies weren't bright yellow! But I've managed to reduce the visual impact from the front by using jungle vine and some other fake plants. Thanks!

Hey, I was wondering, do your crabs climb up that "mat" you have on the back wall of your tank? We have one but I haven't put it in yet.

Yes, a couple of them love it, especially Peaches. I'm thinking of getting another one and cutting it to cover the entire back of the tank. I have noticed that the back of it is molding slightly where it gets condensation instead of salt water mist. Not sure of how to fix that, but it isn't bad yet.

Ok cool. Now, did yours come rolled up? Ours did and I can't seem to get it flattened out enough to hang it. We tried putting heavy books on it, any tips?

I just rolled it in reverse a couple times and crossed my fingers. Mostly the velcro kept it tight enough to get it flat.

Did you soak the mat in saltwater for an hour or so before you put it up? That tends to stop the growth of mold from what i've found.

I didn't, but next time I do a full clean I think I will do just that.
