color change- did he molt?

    one of my little guys was under for less than a week and came up today. he used to be pretty pale, but now he is orange-y red and his pincer is a lot darker purple.
    i know that diet is supposed to influence their color, but does that only take effect after a molt?
    he doesn't look any bigger and there is no trace of exoskeleton in the substrate where he was buried.

    It sounds like you had a speedy molter on your hands. It's rare that crabs molt that quickly but it appears that's what he did. Give him space and quiet. A molt is a stressful thing and he is probably still recouperating from that.
