i live by a store called the coastal aquarium. they make me so mad. here are some of the things they do wrong:
    . not enough sand
. they never change thier sand
    . not enough food
    . no water
. no knowladge of hermit crabs
. no shells to change into
    . nothing to hide in
. they keep them in a small cage that doesnt keep humidity in

thats only some of ythe things they do wrong. i have gone in there and found the hermit crabs eating thier own poop because they have no food. also they charge 2 dollars more for hermit crabs with painted shells.

Print up a hermit crab care sheet and highlight the absolute essentials....like food and water! I feel like if they at least have food, water, substrate, and a place to hide it's something. Better than a cup! Wonder how many of the poor little critters they lose? Most pet stores do charge more for those horrid painted shells. I would actually pay more for one w/o the painted shell!

I agree with krackersmom. If both of you could go together it would be more effective. It might be a good idea to tell manager you met on the site and that members exchange info on poor crab conditions.

hammy1 and i go to the coastal aquarium together all the time..........he lives right down the street from me. we met when i was 4 and hammy1 was 3.
i was there when he picked up those 3 dead hermit crabs and the store owner threw them in the trash.
