I HAVE A QUESTION CAN CRABS MOLT AND YOU MISS IT. I HAVE SEVERAL HERMIES THAT LOOK ALOT BRIGHTER THAN THEY ONCE DID. aLSO i HAVE ONE HERMIE THAT NOW HAS A REAL PRETTY PINK ON THE SIDE OF HER HEAD THAT i DO NOT REMEMBER FROM BEFORE, AND I AM FINDING DEEP HOLES AROUND THE TANK THAT CRABBIES HAVE COME OUT OF. SO IS IT POSSIBLE THAT I HAVE HAD A COUPLE TO MOLTS AND MISSED IT. aLSO i WOULD LIKE TO DO A DEEP CLEAN OF MY TANK BUT, I AM SCARED TO BECAUSE IT SEEMS LIKE I ALWAYS HAVE ONE BURRIED. IF THEY ARE MOLTING I DONT WANT TO DESTURB THEM SO DO YOU THINK I SHOULD WAIT ON THE DEEP CLEAN, OR HOW OFTEN DOES A DEEP CLEAN NEED TO BE DONE? ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPERICATED THANKS~HEATHER

Look at the tips of their tippy-toes ... do they have nice SHARP black painted tips?! If so, chances are they molted. If you have crabs up and down all the time, it is possible it was missed. I don't know how fast fast molts are though ... mine have always been down on average 5-7 weeks, although the little ones can finish much quicker.

I would try to hold out on the deep clean until you know they are up. Although the whole process of molting only takes a couple of hours, you don't know what stage they are in and don't want to take a chance disturbing them.

Thanks msdiamonddawg and hermitPaws. I know the one with the pink on her head has the little sharp pointy things. and honestly this may sound bad but, I couldnt honestly tell you how long a certain crab has been down because I have been so busy at school that I have had little time to actually mess with them and pay attention to whos changed shells and who I havent seen in a while. So I think I might have had some molters. and thanks for the deep clean time line> My crabbies have only been in their new home for about two months so I am quessing it doesn't need a deep clean yet . Plus there are so many places for them to hide and burry that its hard to keep track unless they are out climbing and playing on the net and rope. and usually I only see the same couple of ones. But I am no longer finding one that use to be out playing all the time and I am seeing a couple of others more often that i was lucky to see at all. Thanks for the help
