I am, in no way, an expert. Viks or Hermez will know better then I.

However, If I were to take a guess. . . I'd say the 1st is a Rug, 2nd is a Rug too (although I can't see his eyes) third is a PP and I can only see the crab that is on his side in that 4th pic - he has an interesting pincher but I couldnt tell what kind.

Eyes are a key way of knowing what kind of crabbie you have.

    Here is Hermez Photo Album.

She lists all her hermies and what kind they are. You can see that she has an equadorian that is Ruby Red, and a PP that is practically Black!! So color isnt so important.

The small narrow eye stalks and "ball point pen" eyes tells me its a PP.

The other two look like ruggies.

Enjoy! I have looked at her album like 5 times now! =P

Okay, I am so simple!! I really can't tell a difference in the PP's and E's eyes. I thought I had all PP's based on coloring, but they look alot like Hermez's PP's and E's!! Can someone help me? If you need pics, let me know and I'll try to post tomorrow! The pics of my new one are in "pics of my new babies" and all my crabs pretty much look the same!! Thanks guys!!

Have you seen my ID album? Herm-EZ/Species ID - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting PP's have comma shaped eyes and the stalks are generally light in color (not always) E's have oblong shaped eyes and have candy corn shaped stalks. The stalks are generally light but some have an orangey-reddy tint too--cant go by eyes alone- learn to look at BPs and general color--PP's "usually" have a purple claw from light to dark........they have black dots on their body- E's have a smooth BP ranging from brown to green to even bluish--you can also look at legs, antenna etc etc

Okay, so can I assume that if they have the black specks on them, they are PP's? Cause, to me my PP's eyes don't fit the description of the PP's-they are more like the E's eyes. Sorry to keep asking, but I really want to understand and be able to correctly identify!! It's just really confusing to me!!Thanks!!

OMG!! Thanks Mallie!! Those are really good close up pics of the eyes!! I think I get it now!! Sometimes it takes me a while to get things-I'm a little dense!! I looked and looked at pics of E's and PP's and just couldn't make myself see the difference! But with the really close up ones, I think I get it now! I went and took a good look at my crabs again and yes, they are all 8 PP's!!! I am so embarrased that it took me so long to catch on, but thank goodness for all involved I finally did!! :D
Thanks everyone who helped me for your patience with me!!
