I have had eleven, but am down to three.

They are very territorial and aggressive. I had a balance of power at 4 (3 males and 1 female) and added a female. Two of the males fought for alpha after that and both died. They did it while I was asleep too, so I didn't know they'd tussled. I only figured out what happened later, when I found them dead a day apart.

You have to be careful about the perlatus. Introducing new ones can be fatal for the resident ones.

I also am starting to think that the problems people have with their being "delicate" has nothing to do with constitution, but that they require a specific amount of room per crab. If they are too crowded, they die off. Just a theory.

Be careful with getting too many perlatus. I didn't have the eleven all at once; I had six at one time in a 120 gallon tank. Four seems to be the upper limit for my tank, large as it is.

I have five straws...and love how active and entertaining they are. I have noticed that they do not stay clustered together like my PP's do. They each seem to go to their "own" space. But :knock on wood:... no problems to report as of yet [IMG]

I have two. I noticed one sleeps with the PP's and the other is parked between the saltwater pool and the fresh water pool. They don't seem to interact at all. One is a tiny bit smaller than the other.
