Big E Hermit crab out of his shell and staying in fresh water bowel??

Hey guys,

So i wake up this morning and my big E hermit crab is out of his shell and chilling in the water bowel. he has stayed in the same spot more or less for about 2 days and today he is out of his shell in the water bowel. Bad thing is he has constantly been changing shells which is odd for an E atleast thats what i hear. I think all of the shells are to small but idk. ive been trying to find one that is big enough to accomidate him but i cant seem to find one!

Any ideas? think he is stressed out? maybe the smaller shells finally got to him and hes rebelling till he gets a bigger one? Im off to the pet store now to see if i can find a better fitting one, the other ones are small but not too small by any means
