Ok folks, I'm fairly certain that this new guy is an Indo, but want to know what you think.  The colors aren't as brilliant as our other one but I think that will change with a good diet and a molt.

So?  Indo?  Tell me what you think.  One thing I noticed is that Indo's seem to have almost perfectly round eyes whereas PPs aren't quite, slightly oval or teardropped shaped.  We have both so when we had one of each out yesterday it was apparent (side by side) that they aren't exactly the same shape.  That's part of the reason I think this one is a Indo.

Woo hoo, then Petunia has a buddy, yippee  :hello2:.  The colors of Beaker are even duller (or more dull?) than Petunia when we first got it (still not knowing if it's a M or F).  I spotted Beaker right off, I thought right away he was an Indo and Steph decided to get him for Petunia as company.  That's very cool that there are 2 now.  Hehehe, proud momma's again  :icon_biggrin:

I have noticed just from looking at pics that the purple on an indo's BP is more lavenderish, and the purple on a pp's bp is a bit more... darker, deeper more blue purple. If this isnt right, then ignore me, I am yammering to myself.

    I agree, Matt.

The Indos I've seen, no matter the color or lack there of, always have that lavender BP.  A purple pincher's BP is a much darker purple even if it is a light-colored PP.

    Beautiful crab!!!! :hello2:

Yeah Matt, I agree with you too.  I keep saying it's lilac colored but lavender is probably a much better color discription.  Yes, it seems that regardless of the body/leg color, the BP has the same look to it.  Petunia now after it's molt seems like that is the color that's showing up on it's body so I have hopes that Beaker will do the same after he molts.  I hope that poper nutrition will help with that too.

Thanks Kathy, I hope he becomes even more beautiful.

    very cute Indo!!!  :happy10:

  8. the biggest give away is the eyes.  they eyestalks are dark, and the eyes are perfectly round, where as the PPs are more "comma" shapped.  Nice looking crab, I can't find any indos here, which is the only species I don't have.  :sad5:

I found both Indo's at Petco.  What I cannot find are Es.  Of course Petsmart only supplies PPs, and our Petco's here only have Ruggies, PPs, Indo's and occasionally Straws.  Es are what I want.

Around here we only find E's in the local stores, mom and pop kind of stores.  I've never seen an E @ a petco or petsmart.

    Beautiful Indo!
