My tank smells horrendously like fish. None of the crabs have died, however. They are both moving around. Was it the food? and how can I get rid of this, it is really... not pleasant.

Unless you offered your crabs an especially aromatic dinner, I suspect it's the calci-sand. It's supposedly pretty rank when wet. [IMG]

If you can get to a hardware store, playsand is a good substrate and it's really cheap: a 50 pound bag will be under $3. Also, you can buy small "pucks" of coconut fiber packaged for hermit crabs. I think it's sold as "Hermit crab soil", and I've seen it at Petco. I think they're like $2 each.
