I don't know whats in the tetrafuana cakes, but HBH has EQ and/or copper sulfate in it. Not something hermit crabs should have. Hopefully whoever's site it is, they will update the information and put safe food choices on there.

I understand it's specifically made for hermit crabs, but what are the ingredients? Almost all commercial made foods found in pet stores are bad for hermit crabs because of their ingredients.

Ok I did a google search for tetra fauna products. Here's whats in it.

Fish meal, wheat starch, corn flour, torula dried yeast, shrimp meal, dried potato products, cracklings, wheat gluten, dehulled soybean meal, calcium carbonate, soybean oil, fish oil, algae meal, monobasic calcium phosphate, sorbitol, lecithin, l-ascorbyl-2-polyphosphate(vitamin c), artifical color, ethoxyquin as a preservative.

This is why its bad "ethoxyquin as a preservative. " Not to mention it's filled with "meals" and thats pretty much a filler. I can see 2 ok ingredients but you can get those by itself and skip the rest(soybean oil and fish oil). I would strongly suggest that no one feed this product to their crabs.

No I haven't checked it out since the first time. If you know the person, tell them to try to use all natural and organic ingredients. Then post the recipes! I know alot of people are unsure of what to feed crabs, so if the person uses safe foods then posts the recipes and pics so people can get an idea, it would be great!

ok here's a recipe for the site.
    Krill & Spinach Scrambled Eggs

    1 egg
1/2 teaspoon of freeze dried krill
    1/2 teaspoon dried spinach
    pinch of Spirulina powder
    2 tsp. olive oil

In small pan put in the olive oil and heat up. Beat egg in a small bowl, add krill and spinach. Put into pan. Cook til done. Put scrambled eggs into crab dish. Sprinkle top with spirulina powder. Let cool down then put into crab tank. You may put a sprig of fresh parsley to the dish to add color :D

    Bon Appetite!

Pumpkin and cornmeal paste( I put on salt free crackers/toast for the crabs)

Mix a few drops of pumpkin oil to blue cornmeal. Add drops as needed. Once it's in a paste mixture, apply to a salt free cracker, toast or desired food.

OMG as soon as i read the Krill & Spinach Scrambled Eggs reciepe i went and made it for my hermies. WOW as soon as i put there treat bowl in there there was hermies coming out of nowhere lol. I had 5 hermies around a little bowl. I give me hermies a special twice a week and i put there treats in a seperate bowl to there reg food. I use the same treat bowl so now they recognise the treat bowl and just about come running to see whats in it this time. I was having trouble getting them to try new food but i have noticed that if i put it in the treat bowl they try it straight away.

you can use any type of protein for the scrambled eggs. shrimp, chicken, beef etc...Krill are shrimp-like marine invertebrate animals.
