well, I need some advice!! Soon, I'll be getting a 15 gallon tall aquarium for the hermies, and I want to build them a sturdy 2nd level (mainly bc one is getting picked on by 2 others, so he needs his own space). I dont want to buy a suction cup shower thing, bc I have a good-sized crab with a heavy shell - what are my options? I have screwdrivers, nails, a hammer, hot glue, and a hardware store down the road. (the 15G tall has the same base dimensions as a 10G, but its a few inches taller). Also, I'd like the level to be removable, for deep cleans.  :hail: Advice would be most welcome!!

I got a piece of hemp net from Vicki, too.  I have used it in a couple of different ways, too..........

On the back wall of the 75G:

And then I recentlly doubled it in 1/2, and built a front-to-back hammock in the 40B:

The net has kept it's coloring like brand new, even though this net has survived for about a year.  The big guys (larges & jumbos) tried to rip it apart when I had it in the 75G, but they weren't successful......Vicki sells some tough nets!

Take a sm. drill bit and drill holes along the inside lip at the top of the tank, use plastic zip ties and hang a choya log from the top of the tank.

CM3 - that looks beautiful! i think i'll try something similar (minus the drilling thing - with my luck, the glass would explode and id write my next post from a hospital bed!!) but where did you buy the choya wood? i once found a small piece at an interior deco store, but i didnt know if there were chemicals on it. the only thing petsmart carries is fake choya for birds, its not wood, but a flavoured treat.

Hermiefun - i will get RIGHT on that!! i can't wait to get my net

once the tanks all done, ill post some pix!

ps: CM3 - i like the roses, nice touch!!

Ahhh.....green sars,  I can't take credit for the roses or anything w/ the tower hermifun made for me, that was all her idea!  :yes2:  The only thing I did was put it in the sand, and put moss in it, and hung the corner net over it.  :this:
As for the choya logs, I got both of them from Vicki's store.  If you plan on ordering some, you could get them the same time you get the nets to save some money on shipping.

Their located under the the Habitat Accessories link, and then click on the wood items link.  Hope this helps ya!  Thanks for the nice comments about my tank,  I had alot of fun decorating it, and the crabs have really enjoyed the hanging log!  I find my big boy, Big J there alot!

Well, it's simply their favorite spot to hang out!  :chuckle:

cool! i cant wait to get my 15G tall tank together (i need to FIND one first! :noidea: ) right now, i have a piece of cork bark with vines wrapped around it (the crabs like the leaf-cover), and a cave with room for 3 - the fourth rarely comes out nowadays, she's always buried (?) and besides a couple pieces of grape vine, thats all there really is! I ordered some netting for the wall, shells, and coral pieces from naples seashells a month ago, but they still havent come in  :bat: I can't wait to hang my hermie net, and i'm looking for some nice fake cherry-blossoms to put in there too, make the place more girly :flower: oooh, i just love my little crabs! :huggies: I hope i can find a way to rig up some choya - your crab looks soooo cute in there!
