Hey there! I just invented this thing I call: "hosting a meeting"
It's where I invite all the members of my social group to be there at a certain time,
If you want to come, the meeting is at 5:00 tonight.

I'm gonna send this same message to all the members.

      sincerely,
      Donny

I believe it is quite safe. . . But you know that you must use treated water for drinking and bathing your hermit crabs, right???

awe, man, i'm sorry.. my condolences.. these are the things that happen when taking something from the wild and placing it in captivity.. my Bruce, died last week.. but were all doin the best we can to make sure our crabbies are content and happy!

They come out of the darkness when they please, Hermie is more of a night time Crabbie, and Lyla seems active like ALL the time lol I bring them out every so often, im letting hermie recover from his molt, and Lyla is molting now. It is chilly here though and less humid.. so for the comming winter, they just might not come out much because the less i have to open the crabitat door, the more the crabitats lil ecosystem can stay stable. :)

That's cool! yea that part seems like it takes FOREVER, but it really doesn't. hope all your crabbies have successfull molts! They'll probably come out looking way different in color haha Hermie turned orangeish like a cooked lobster lol he changed shells yesterday too!

I hardboil the egg and then slice the egg with the shell on and put it in a ziploc baggie and offer a little each night with the rest of their dinner.

No you should not handle any of them right now for at least a month, I wouldn't ISO it will cause more stress. Just leave him be.

It is important that you do not handle them for about a month now, keep the tank in an area that does not get alot of people walking by all day, they need to de-stress, dont be surprised if they bury themselves for a couple days at a time while they get acclimated to the nice comfy tank.
ISO'ing molters is a toss up, some people swear by it and others think it stresses them out. I leave mine in the main tank, as long as you are feeding your crabs GOOD things with protein like chicken, freeze dried shrimp, and things like that they will not feel the need to get it from a tank mate. I wouldnt put a soda bottle in there either, crabs are sneaky, they bury during the day and come up at night to eat when nobody is looking and the house is quiet, if you put a soda bottle then it wouldnt be able to get out and eat. Just keep an eye on things if you notice one being aggressive then you may have to worry but it isnt likely. Congrats on your new friends! Post some pics and show them off!

Yes a digital one is your best bet, hermit crabs have gills that require an almost exact humidity of 75%-80% humidity to stay healthy too much and they slowly drown and too little and their gills dry out and they slowly suffocate. So it is critical that you have a good gauge and it is calibrated properly, digital gauges do not require calibration.

Yes, both coconut and sand make terrific substrates for your crabitat!!!
